Arguments Against Abortion
Abortion is the ending of pregnancy by removing the fetus from the uterus. This procedure is typically performed during the first 28 weeks of the pregnancy. Abortion is a very complex and sensitive issue and opinions are split. Many believe that the procedure is very similar to murder – they argue that, although small, the fetus is still a human being. On the other hand, many people believe that the woman should have the livery to choose if she wants to keep the baby or not. In my opinion, abortion is wrong – both ethically and morally.
When a woman chooses to have sexual intercourse without taking any precaution measures, she is taking a chance on her own free will. In other words, the woman is accepting the fact that a pregnancy may result from her having unprotected sexual intercourse. The resulting pregnancy is her responsibility and is a direct result of her actions – even though the pregnancy may be unwanted.
Abortion is, in my opinion, immoral because it is basically the killing of a human by another human. Taking into consideration the fact that life begins at the moment of conception, it is therefore murder to kill the fetus.
Also, abortion is morally wrong because the procedure ends the life of an innocent child who cannot defend himself or herself. The child is not given any choice. It is my belief that nobody should be allowed to end a life, no matter the circumstances.
In conclusion, it is my firm belief that abortion is morally and ethically wrong. Existing legislation must be changed to put a stop to this barbaric practice. Remember, it is our duty to protect our children, not murder them in their early stages of life.
